Here are the answers to some of the commonly asked questions.
What can I put in my dumpster?
Dumpsters can be used for general waste which is typically anything involved with a general cleanup around the house and property that is neither liquid nor of a hazardous nature.
What can’t go in the dumpster?
Hazardous waste can not be placed in the dumpster. This includes TV’s, monitors, fridges, paints, solvents, liquids or any asbestos. To dispose of any of these materials you need to contact your local county office. They will be able to provide you with a contact who can dispose of anything hazardous or not accepted in your dumpster (i.e. household garbage and food waste).
Which waste types are serviced?
Household Debris, Clean Construction Debris, Clean Concrete, Soil / Dirt, Stump and Brush.
What is Household Debris?
Light comingle waste from a house hold cleanup. DO NOT PUT: Dirt, bricks, concrete, food waste, asbestos, hazardous waste, chemicals, insulation materials, liquids, gas bottles, tires, mattresses, computer monitors or hard drives, or any electrical equipment with plugs.
What is Clean Construction Debris?
Wood, Plaster, Insulation, Styrofoam, Tiles, Ceramic Goods, Sheet Rock/Drywall.
What is Clean Concrete?
Concrete ONLY. DO NOT PUT: Anything other than clean concrete in this receptacle. NO dirt, bricks, asphalt or ceramics.
What is Soil / Dirt?
100% pure soil / dirt (no turf or contaminants). No other waste can be mixed in this dumpster. Additional charges will apply if other waste is placed in this dumpster.
What is Stump and Brush?
Tree stumps and branches.
Please note this is a basic guide, some Haulers may not service all of these waste types.
How high can I fill the dumpster?
Dumpsters can be filled level to the top, except for the Clean Concrete waste type. This dumpster must not be filled any further than half way due to weight restrictions. (Haulers face prosecution for unsafe or overweight loads).
What if I have two different waste types? Can I mix them?
The only dumpster in which you may mix more than one waste type is the Household Debris dumpster. If you are placing heavy waste in this dumpster there is a weight limit of 250 pounds per 1 cubic yard so you may be charged an extra weight fee if you fill over and above this limit. It is suggested that you order a small dumpster for each waste type you are disposing of rather than just one large one.
How much notice do I need to give when ordering my dumpster?
Most Haulers will be able to deliver a dumpster within 24 hours of ordering, however, it is suggested dumpsters are ordereded as far in advance as possible. Ordering as far in advance as possible ensures you are able to get the most competitively priced dumpster. Unfortunately a same day delivery service is currently unavailable.
How do I know if I need a Permit?
Each city within each county may have differing expectations in regard to permits required for placing a dumpster on public or private land. To ensure you are aware of the expectation, time frame and cost required for arranging any necessary permits, contact your local county office and they will be able to provide you with this information.
How big will my dumpster be?
The dumpster’s size is measured in cubic yards. To get an idea of the dumpster size, view the scale drawing on our homepage at step 4 of the order process. 1 cubic yard is the equivalent of 1 yard wide by 1 yard long by 1 yard high. So a 6 yard dumpster has the capacity to hold 6 ‘cubic yards’.
I don’t know what size dumpster I need?
The website provides a scale drawing of dumpster sizes. Click on the view button during the order process to determine the size of each dumpster (the images are indicative of volume only and dimensions may vary).
How much does it cost to hire a dumpster?
Depending on the waste type, size of the dumpster and length of rental, costs will vary. Enter your requirements on the website, and it will offer the lowest price to meet your requirements, with no obligations. Pricing is based on 250 lbs per cubic yard, for example a 3 yard dumpster price allows for 750 lbs of waste.
How long can I keep the dumpster?
You can order a dumpster for up to 28 days.
What if I’m not finished with the dumpster by pick-up day?
If unforeseen circumstances mean that you have not finished with the dumpster, you should contact the Hauler as early as possible. Provided the dumpster has not been ordereded out on another job, they can usually be flexible.
When and how do I pay for the dumpster?
All dumpster orders are paid for at the time of ordering on the website. We accept payment by all major credit cards, over our secure server (see Security page). If you incur additional charges, the Hauler will collect these from you directly.
How much weight can I put in the dumpster?
This depends on the size of the dumpster. During the order process you are told the weight limit for each different dumpster size.
What do I do with hazardous chemicals?
You cannot put any hazardous waste into the dumpsters. Anything of a hazardous nature should be disposed of carefully with the right procedure. If you are unsure of how to dispose of any hazardous waste you need to contact your local counties hazardous waste department.
Will the truck be able to get up my driveway?
Your drive needs to be at least 10 feet wide for a normal truck with a 9 cubic yard dumpster (allow wider access if necessary for a larger truck). You should also ensure there are no low hanging trees, power lines or the like, that may hinder the access and placement of the container at time of delivery. Once ordered you should contact your Hauler and discuss the location of the dumpster if you think that access may be difficult. Most Haulers will have smaller trucks for tricky locations.
Can I place the dumpster on public land?
Some states require a special permit for this, please contact your local government to find out, and if so, allow time to arrange the permit before the delivery date.
What time is the dumpster delivered and collected?
When placing your order you can record any specific instructions in the “Delivery Comments” box. Once you order your dumpster you will be emailed a confirmation, this will outline your Haulers contact details, and you can contact them directly to confirm and/or arrange the best time. Otherwise, containers should be delivered prior to midday on your choosen day of delivery.
